PPL Leh Ladakh

World's Highest Academic Creators Lab for Schools

Launched under the PM eVidya mission of the Ministry of Education, the Content Creators Lab in Leh, Ladakh is India's highest academic film studio dedicated to schools. Designed to empower teachers as content creators for five television channels allocated to the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Lab combines curriculum design, studio infrastructure and film pedagogy training to enable schools as content creators of 10 original educational IPs, 300+ episodes of curriculum-aligned content, and teacher- and student-led audiovisual productions. The project continues to run as an ongoing teacher training and content production initiative.

Kidding Around Bharat

Educational Tours Integrating Rural Impact + Film & Media Skills

Kidding Around Bharat is a collaborative educational tours initiative with the EducationWorld Foundation, designed to empower students with film & media skills to further promote rural tourism, cultural exchange and community storytelling across India. Designed as a community exchange and filmmaking initiative, KAB enables students to explore India beyond textbooks — connecting with people, places and traditions, while learning filmmaking and photography as tools for expression and reflection. Each KAB tour results in student-created documentary films and travelogues that bring together learning, culture, creativity and community engagement in one powerful experience.

India's First OTT Platform for Early Childhood Education

ECA TV is an upcoming digital learning platform developed in collaboration with the Early Childhood Association (ECA) and the Association for Preparatory Education & Research (APER). Designed as a dedicated OTT ecosystem and Digital University for early years education, the platform will bring together teachers, parents, and young learners through engaging, research-driven audiovisual content. The platform aims to transform how early childhood knowledge is shared by converting expert resources, training modules, and educational publications into accessible video-based learning experiences. Since 2012, our Film Pedagogy programs at Purple People Labs have mentored children and teachers to create purpose-driven cinema as young content creators. Our films have featured on PM Vidya Channels of Ladakh and won accolades at International Film Festivals including the Seattle International Film Festival, I&B Ministry's – The Golden Elephant, MICE Film Festival Venice, Miami International Film Festival & the prestigious Cannes 2025.

Soon, these remarkable films will be available for viewing on our upcoming impact OTT platform, Swadeshplex, accessible at Just ₹1 — because we believe in the ONEders of One! Why We Started

To support the PM eVidya mission — affordable access to quality educational content for 25 crore school going children in India. With over 15 lakh schools in India, and less than 0.02% of cinema created specifically for children, we see filmmaking as a vital tool for education, communication and social impact.

What We Do

Established in 2012, we design an all integrated Film Pedagogy program for K to 12 schools including Film & Media Curriculum, Content Creator Labs, Content IP Design, Teacher Training, Social Impact Campaigns & International Film Festivals — By Children, For Children.

Project Gullak

Make A Difference,
One Film At A Time!

Inspired by the traditional gullak (piggy bank), Project Gullak is a coherent grant for young filmmakers that nurtures real stories from rural Bharat into impactful films.

With support from our school projects and CSR partners, we organize filmmaking workshops & educational film tours for children across unique villages, NGOs or communities. Films made by children are then screened across various schools and festivals to create awareness and invite support to sustain developmental projects for the same NGO/community.
